Kelli Duncan/[email protected] The Avon man accused of leaving the scene after hitting a pedestrian with his car came before the court Thursday for a pretrial hearing that revealed more about what happened that night in December of last year. Tyler Walker, 31, was charged with leaving the scene of an accident resulting in serious bodily injury, a Class 4 felony, after he struck Andrew Dolan, 46, with his car just after 7 p.m. on Dec. 5. Walker was traveling westbound on Highway 6 when the front right of his vehicle struck the right side of Dolan, who was crossing the highway from south to north from the Highway 6 East/Stone Creek Drive bus stop, according to an affidavit detailing the incident. ....
On Tuesday, June 8, 2021 at 5:56 p.m., on the 1000 block of 1st Street, Lake Park, a hospital patient gave their key to a friend to pick up some personal items while they were recovering in a nearby clinic. When the patient was discharged, and returned home, they discovered more items were missing from the residence and suspected their friend. Also on Tuesday, at 4:30 p.m., on the 25000 block of Township Road 81, Detroit Lakes, a caller didn't like the tile work in their bathroom from what they thought was a licensed contractor. Upon further investigation, the caller discovered the contractor was not licensed. ....
On May 31 at 2:58 p.m., on the 37000 block of Elbow Lake Road, Waubun, the driver of an all-terrain vehicle suffered a broken arm during a rollover crash. The driver was transported, via airlift helicopter, to a nearby medical facility for treatment. Also, on June 1 at 11:02 p.m., on the 300 block of Eagle Street, Audubon, a house fire was reported. All residents reported evacuating safely. The residence was categorized as a total loss and the occupants were relocated to a nearby hotel via the Salvation Army voucher program. ....

The lack of safe pedestrian crossings along the busy (and fast) corridor has resulted in a number of tragic accidents and presents a major safety concern for property owners. In the past 10 years, three major car-on-pedestrian crashes have been reported along the 3.5-mile stretch from Avon to EagleVail. This includes two incidents in 2014 and 2015, at Stonebridge Drive and Eagle Road respectively, where pedestrians were injured, and one fatal incident at Stone Creek Drive in 2019. ....
