Manly, IA – A Plymouth man is dead following a two-vehicle crash on Highway 65 north of Mason City.
According to the Iowa State Patrol crash report, Scott Caron was driving northbound on Highway 65 when the vehicle went into the southbound lanes, head-on into a vehicle driven by 59-year-old Michael McCoid of Manly.
Caron died in the crash with McCoid being transported to MercyOne North Iowa by Airmed.
The crash, which was reported at 4:57am Thursday, closed Highway 65 for several hours.

(Worth County, IA) One man is dead, another injured in a northern Iowa crash early this (Thursday) morning. The Iowa State Patrol says 28-year-old Scott Caron of Plymouth was driving a Kia Soul that collided with a Toyota Tundra pick-up truck, driven by 59-year-old Michael McCoid of Manley, south of Manley. Caron died in the crash, McCoid was flown to Mercy Hospital in Mason City.
The State Patrol says Caron was traveling on Highway 65, (3472 Orchid) about 5 o clock this (Thursday) when he crossed the center line and collided head-on with the oncoming pick-up.

The Houghton Lake community rallied on Saturday evening.
Community members, fire department, and the local police department held a welcome home drive by parade for local Scott Caron.
Scott came home from the hospital on Tuesday after being there for almost a month with COVID.
Scott’s son, Cody Caron, says he was on a ventilator for over two weeks.
Cody said he wanted to put this drive by together to not only surprise his dad but him how much her means to the people of Houghton Lake.
“We were all scared and panicking but just had to think positive and be there for each other and keep moving forward every day,” said Cody.
