BORIS JOHNSON s Tories have launched a furious attack on Nicola Sturgeon and the SNP as the Prime Minister is set to head to Scotland to underline the strength of the Union.

Ms Sturgeon and Mr Farage are set to go head-to-head in May s Holyrood elections, as the Scottish National Party (SNP) leader and Reform UK chief lay out their arguments for and against Scotland staying in the UK. Mr Farage’s Reform UK delivered its election pledges after announcing ex-Tory MSP Michelle Ballantyne as its leader north of the border this month. Mr Farage has often clashed with Ms Sturgeon, as the SNP leader has continually demanded another vote on Scottish independence following the UK s decision to leave the EU.
Boris Johnson has vowed to block any second referendum arguing the 2014 result must be respected.
The Prime Minister suggested there should be a 40-year gap between referendums after senior SNP figures said the 2014 referendum would be a “once in a generation” event.
Ms Sturgeon has refused to rule out carrying out a ‘Catalonia style’ wildcat referendum against the wishes of Westminster. I d rather we had a Covid vaccine task force or an education task force (Image: GETTY)

This would likely be boycotted by unionist campaigners raising big questions about its legitimacy.

Polls undertaken by survey companies on behalf of The Sunday Times revealed UK voting habits across the four nations of the United Kingdom to gauge attitudes towards the Union. In Scotland, polls found 49 percent backed independence compared to 44 percent against - a margin of 52 percent to 48 percent if the undecideds are excluded.

The SNP Westminster leader said the stakes were much higher and stressed the SNP could not afford to lose an independence referendum for a second time. Speaking ahead of the SNP’s National Assembly tomorrow, Mr Blackford said he didn’t accept any “independence referendum campaign by its nature has to be divisive”.
