Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Forest Department has proposed gigantic projects under “Green, Clean and Fruits for All” Program in budget 2021-22 to bolster afforestation, olives farming and beekeeping in the province.
Gulzar Rehman, Conservator South, Forest Department told APP on Sunday that Forest Department was going to another offshoot i.e. ‘Green, Sweet and Fruits for All’ under which olive and indigenous bees flora plants including berry and palosa would be planted in order to promote api-culture, horticulture and fruiti-culture industries.
He said about 70 million wild olives plants have been discovered in KP including 35 million in merged areas. Approximately,15 million discovered in South Waziristan, six million in Kurrum, four million in Orakzai, 3.450 million in Bajaur, 1.5 million each in North Waziristan, Kohat, 1.2 million in Mohmand, one million in Khyber, six lac each in Dera Ismail Khan and Tank, eight lac in ex FR Peshawar and two lac each in Bannu and

President Dr Arif Alvi on Wednesday called upon the public and private sectors to join hands in supporting the government’s efforts for the documentation of national economy.
He urged the businessmen to play an active role in encouraging business community to pay taxes so that budget deficit could be reduced and more funds be allocated for development work.
The president expressed these views while talking to a delegation of Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industries (LCC&I) led by President LCC&I, Mian Tariq Misbah-ur-Rehman, here at the Aiwan-e-Sadr.

The prime minister said that olive fruit produced edible oil of high nutritional value, which could also be used to meet local demand besides its export.
He said Pakistan had more potential than Spain, the leading olive producer in the world, and could explore possibilities with effective strategy for olive cultivation.
The country, he said, was blessed with 12 climatic zones and diverse landscape and stressed the need for promoting planting a variety of crops and fruit.
Mr Khan said that olive had also been mentioned in the holy Quran for several times which enhanced relevance and significance of this wonder fruit.

NOWSHERA/ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Imran Khan on Monday said that the olive plantation would prove the best investment for Pakistan in terms of earning valuable foreign exchange and ensuring food security.
Launching the olive plantation drive in Amangarh in Nowshera district, he said the country had immense potential for plantation of olive trees owing to suitable topography and climate from north to south.
He was accompanied by Defence Minister Pervez Khattak, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Shah Farman, Chief Minister Mahmood Khan, Special Assistant on Climate Change Amin Aslam and others. Over 7,500 olive saplings are being planted at Nowshera as part of the initiative to promote olives cultivation and help save foreign exchange.
