Date Time Two major appointments to Queensland’s Magistracy Attorney-General and Minister for Justice, Minister for Women and Minister for the Prevention of Domestic and Family Violence The Honourable Shannon Fentiman Attorney-General and Minister for Justice Shannon Fentiman today announced two appointments – Anthony Gett is the state’s newest Deputy Chief Magistrate, while Susan Warrington will become a Magistrate in Cairns. “Queensland’s judiciary, and by extension the community at large, is in very safe hands when you consider the talent and work ethos of people like Deputy Chief Magistrate Gett and Magistrate Warrington,” Minister Fentiman said. Deputy Chief Magistrate Gett replaces Magistrate Leanne O’Shea, who has retired. ....
JOINT STATEMENT The Premier has announced a wide-ranging review into the experience of women across the criminal justice system to be undertaken by the Women’s Safety and Justice taskforce, led by Margaret McMurdo AC. Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk said last month’s announcement to legislate against coercive control was the first part of work being done by the taskforce that is also going to examine issues faced by women when accessing the criminal justice system. “We know that women face barriers when reporting against domestic, family and sexual violence,” the Premier said. “And while we’ve made significant progress to prevent and respond to domestic, family and sexual violence in Queensland, we know there is more work to be done. ....

This therapy is now part of the standard of care, but it doesn’t work for all patients, and almost all patients, no matter how they respond initially, become more resistant to treatment over time. The immune system plays a critical role in kidney cancer disease progression and in response to therapies, and so a fundamental challenge in the field is to understand the underlying “immune circuitry” of this disease. ....
