Cisco Confirms Layoffs Of 3,500 Employees Since Pandemic Start
The networking giant was not immune to the financial fallout caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, which resulted in a companywide restructure and 3,500 job cuts this year, Cisco confirmed. By Gina Narcisi December 17, 2020, 12:51 PM EST
Cisco Systems has let go 3,500 employees since the COVID-19 pandemic began, the tech giant confirmed.
“We are always evaluating our growth areas and aligning our resources to meet customer demands. As a result, since the pandemic began, we have restructured approximately 3,500 roles. In addition, we’ve hired thousands of people for new roles in other areas of the business,” a Cisco spokesperson said in an email to CRN.
Via WARN notices, 101 more Cisco layoffs will happen in December from its San Jose, Calif. headquarters following months of speculation that more jobs cuts were coming as part of the tech giant's $1 billion restructuring effort.
