Software entrepreneur Niyati Chander, 30, ran into gender bias fairly early in her career. A Bengaluru-based management graduate, she had set up a software enterprise, a Micro, Small and Medium Enterprise with eight employees in June 2020. “I wanted to be in control of where I am going in life,” she said.
From investors and government officials to real estate agents and even friends and former colleagues, Chander found that she was not being taken seriously. “People assume you do not know what you want,” she said. “When we were looking for office space, the emails from the landlord would go to my male co-founder though it was made clear that I am the main founder – it was assumed that the final call would be his.” ....

Growth of khadi is robust: KVIC Chairman Vinai Kumar Saxena

GUWAHATI: KVIC (Khadi and Village Industries Commission) Chairman Vinai Kumar Saxena has said that the growth of Khadi industries has made a quantum jump from six per cent in 2014 to 29 per cent now.
Addressing the media at city hotel on Saturday, Saxena said, We re approaching various ministries, schools, universities and other to adop khadi. Some of the institutions have accepted our plea. All paramilitary forces will adopt khadi products in their canteens. We ve IITs and NITs with us to provide technical support.
Under the PMEGP (Prime Minister Employment Generation Programme) 2.28 lakh people have been employed. To make traditional industries more productive and competitive and facilitating their sustainable development the Centre is setting up a fund for the generation of traditional industries, he said. ....
