Third stimulus update: Feds sending Springfield an estimated $90M in COVID relief, Worcester $106M, Boston $400M; here’s how much your town, city may get

Massachusetts cities such as Springfield and Worcester may receive more than $90 million through the American Rescue Plan’s $350 billion influx of COVID-19 aid to help state and local governments across the country recover from gutted tax revenues and layoffs brought on by the pandemic.
The state should receive a total of nearly $8.3 billion according to President Joe Biden’s $1.9 trillion plan, which is likely up for a House vote Friday and Senate vote by mid-March. U.S. Rep. Richard Neal’s office told MassLive Tuesday that Beacon Hill should see about $4.5 billion to help address the virus, while more than $3.7 billion will be spread across local governments throughout Massachusetts. ....

Ellen Farley’s story last Thursday was one shared by tens of thousands of people across Massachusetts: She woke up in the pre-dawn hours, set up her computer and was promptly ready by 8 a.m. to book an appointment to get vaccinated for coronavirus.
Only instead, she was met by the hair-pulling image of a four-armed octopus telling her the site had crashed, one of the many barriers she experienced Thursday morning, each out of her control. ....
