The Netherlands Antilles state-run petroleum refiner, Refineria di Korsou (RdK), has selected CORC BV (Curacao Oil Refinery Complex BV), a local company, as a preferred partner to operate the 225,000-barrel-per-day Willemstad Isla Refinery in Curacao. Processing units remain offline due to unplanned events, followed by a lack of crude oil, financial issues and the COVID-19 pandemic. The previous operator was Venezuela s Petroleos de Venezuela (PDVSA).
Authorities expect to close negotiations and sign the agreement with the new operator in March. Only preventive maintenance work is being performed at the refinery.
