Archer, 69, won the constituency byelection ahead of seven other candidates in voting which closed at noon today. I m excited about it. I am looking forward to contributing to the future of the NRC and Northland, Archer said. I was elected in the Whangārei urban constituency but see my constituency as being the whole of Northland. ....

Instead, the legacy that underscores HarperCollins’ reprint of the novel last month as the first-known detective novel penned by an African American author is a largely posthumous one. The witty thriller, entombed in humor and the spirit of Prohibition-era Harlem, has become a testament to the author’s underexplored potential. ....
