The Victorian Government has named the winners of its Future Homes competition, with four innovative apartment designs taking out the prize.
Designs from architectural practices including LIAN, Spiral Architects Lab, McGregor Westlake Architecture, and Design Strategy Architecture in collaboration with IncluDesign were all declared winners.
A partnership between the Office of the Victorian Government Architect and DELWP’s planning department, the competition is designed to create exemplar apartment plans along with a streamlined planning process to deliver more density in the suburbs.
Announced by Victorian Minister for Planning Richard Wynne, the competition sought designs that could be easily replicated across Melbourne. Wynne says the winners are benchmark designs for not only Victoria, but for the world.

More than 100 Pacific Islands workers arrived in Victoria today, as part of an agreement with the Tasmanian and Andrews Labor Government to provide vital support to farms and agriculture businesses across the state.
Additional workers will arrive from Tasmania in the coming days as part of a planned, rolling schedule of arrivals that will see up to 1,500 Pacific Islands workers join the local workforce in Victoria.
These workers are an integral part of the seasonal workforce, undertaking important work to support our state’s $15.9 billion agriculture industry.
The workers have completed 14 days quarantine in Tasmania, thanks to the landmark agreement between the Victorian and Tasmanian governments.

The world governing body of football, FIFA yestday announced that five cities in Australia and four in New Zealand will host matches in Women’s World Cup in 2023.
The president of FIFA, Gianni Infantino announced on 31 March, that the opening match of the tournament that will include teams from 32 nations, will be held in Auckland and the final will be held at the soon-to-be-completed Stadium Australia is Sydney.
“The appointment of the nine host cities represents a major milestone for the next FIFA Women’s World Cup 2023, as well as for players and football fans across Australia, New Zealand and around the world,” said Mr Infantino said in Zurich, Switzerland.
