ALBEMARLE COUNTY, Va. (WVIR) - Nearly 100 Scottsville families are receiving gift cards to area restaurants and grocery stores.
With a partnership between the Town of Scottsville and the Bread of Life Food Pantry a total of $20,000 was distributed to families by way of gift cards.
The money comes from CARES Act funding and the town says its great to see that money put to use in the local economy.
“We appreciate that the CARES money can continue to cycle through the local economy and help families in need while also supporting local jobs,” Town Administrator Matt Lawless said.

Update: The Food Bank will continue to provide food for its partner pantries and residents in need while limiting personal contact. They are also working with the County Schools and other food distribution locations to ensure no interruption of food delivery. Residents are encouraged to call the Food Bank directly at 984-3960 x101 if they find themselves in need.
The ATCAA Service Center in Jackson can be reached by calling 223-1485 and in Sonora by calling 533-1397, Monday through Thursday from 9am until 4pm.
