Latin American and Caribbean Countries Stress the Importance of Producing Timely and Reliable Statistics for a Transformative Recovery with Equality
High-level authorities and representatives of national statistics offices from Latin American and Caribbean countries stressed today the importance of producing timely and reliable statistics for a transformative recovery with equality and called for strengthening the role of national statistical entities to tackle the challenges inflicted by the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.
Participants in the virtual meeting, which will conclude tomorrow, include 33 delegations from ECLAC s Member States and 10 associate members, along with regional representatives and representatives of the United Nations System s agencies, funds and programs, international organizations, academia and civil society.

Biography
Jeske van Seters, a Dutch national, is Head of Programme at the European Centre for Development Policy Management (ECDPM). Jeske heads the Private Sector Engagement team of ECDPM’s Economic and Agricultural Transformation programme and is particularly interested in ways to leverage the private sector for sustainable development in Africa.
Her current work activities relate mainly to public-private dialogue and cooperation, responsible business conduct in regional and global value chains and financial instruments for private sector development.
Previously, she was Deputy Head of ECDPM’s Food Security Programme (2012-2016) and Policy Officer Development Policy and International Relations (2008-2011). Jeske conducts policy-oriented research, provides independent advice and facilitates dialogue. She engages with a broad range of actors, including policy-makers and development
