Leominster man faces charges after drug raid on Mount Elam Road

A Leominster man is facing a variety of drug charges after police found cocaine, marijuana, drug-laced candy and more than $200,000 in cash during a raid.
Matthew M. Heinecke, 41, of 1052 Mount Elam Road, Leominster, was charged Feb. 24 with trafficking in 36-100 grams of cocaine, possession of cocaine with intent to distribute, trafficking in 50-100 pounds of marijuana, possession of a Class D drug with intent to distribute, possession of a Class C drug with intent to distribute, and possession of a Class C drug.
Heinecke will be back in Leominster District Court March 25 for a pretrial conference, according to Timothy Connolly, a spokesperson for Worcester District Attorney Joseph Early Jr. ....

Alyson Lowell wiped tears from her eyes Wednesday, choking up with emotion as she stood just feet from where her 20-year-old daughter was struck and killed by a driver texting at the wheel nearly three years ago.
The tears did fade for a smile when Lowell was able to press the button on a new traffic light installed in honor of her daughter, Gabriella “Gabby” Lowell, bright lights telling signaling to drivers on Grafton Street to stop for pedestrians. Lowell and family members entered the crosswalk together. ....

Rebecca DeCoteau worked at the COVID field hospital as a registered nurse in the Boston Convention and Exhibition Center in the spring. For some of the patients she cared for, the only clothes they had were those on their backs when they entered the hospital.
She witnessed big brands donate sneakers and clothes, but wanted to do more. ....

Members of the Adams family could run up and down the stairs at their three-decker at 13 Jaques Ave., easily popping in on each level to be with one another. With generations living together under one roof, there were a tight-knit family.
That strong bond is what will now propel the Adams family through an unimaginable loss.
On Friday night, flames quickly tore through the building, leaving two family members dead and another severely injured. On the first floor of the three-decker, the blaze claimed the lives of Edna Mae Williams and her son Gerald “Jerry” Prince. WORCESTER, Mass. (AP) - A man shot in Worcester last July has died and the suspect is now facing a murder charge, prosecutors said.
Jose Merced, 32, of Worcester, was arrested last weekend and held without bail at his arraignment Monday on the new charge, according to a statement from the office of Worcester District Attorney Joseph Early Jr.
He was arrested Saturday afternoon by Worcester police, about 13 hours after the victim was pronounced dead, according to authorities.
