Jul 8, 2021 The FBI, working with Portland Police Bureau, is offering a reward of up to $15,000 for information leading to the identification, arrest, and conviction of those responsible for the shooting death of Evelin Navarro-Barajas. This reward is in addition to the CrimeStoppers reward of up to $2,500 previously offered. On June 18, 2020, 23-year-old Evelin Navarro-Barajas spent the afternoon at the river. That evening, Evelin and a group of friends that included children gathered in a parking lot in the 6700 block of Northeast Killingsworth Street. Just before midnight, a vehicle stopped on the street near the parking lot. A suspect or suspects exited the vehicle and fired multiple shots at the group. Evelin was shot and died early in the morning of June 19th. A friend was shot and survived. ....

The Oregon Department of Transportation (ODOT) is requesting approval of $3.35 million to make 82nd Avenue safer for pedestrians, the agency announced Friday. The money would be part of a $10 million plan for urgently needed pedestrian safety improvements statewide, ODOT said in a news release. ODOT will ask the Oregon Transportation Commission to approve the funds on May 13. If approved, ODOT says it would quickly launch a series of projects that would be finished by fall 2021. ....

Facebook Share Updated: May 8, 2021 A driver suspected of being under the influence was arrested after a fatal crash in North Portland on Thursday night, which damaged a power pole and forced the closure of a major roadway, police said. An officer happened upon the crash near Northeast Sandy Boulevard and Northeast Killingsworth Street just before 11:45 p.m., police said. The driver of a 1999 Chevrolet Tahoe had struck a power pole and the officer called for paramedics, but the passenger in the vehicle died at the scene, police said. The driver, later identified as 29-year-old Portland resident Anthony Soto, was also injured but was expected to survive. ....
