In an effort to get Narcan into the hands of the general public, as well as help quash the stigma around opioid addiction, seven North Shore communities have come together to launch the Carry A Lifeline campaign.
Residents of Danvers, Beverly, Gloucester, Rockport, Essex, Ipswich and Manchester By-The-Sea have likely begun seeing advertising on social media and around their communities related to the campaign.
Narcan nasal spray is used to temporarily reverse the effects of an opioid overdose by combining with receptors in the brain to block the effects of opioids.
While it is crucial for people who know someone with an opioid addiction to carry Narcan, the thought is that if more people carry it, more lives can be saved.
