So much so that as construction starts on the 44-story, 322-unit The Couture tower, he’s talking about developing an even bigger building. The 44-story apartment tower will be the tallest residential building in the state. He would like to one day build the tallest building of any kind.
Barrett held court on the project site, 909 E. Michigan St., Tuesday morning as construction equipment from J.H. Findorff & Son was unloaded around him.
ORLANDO, FL - Lincoln Property Company, with a regional office in Lake Mary, Florida, announced the start of pre-leasing at Legacy Universal, a 350-unit, Class A apartment community at 7488 Universal Boulevard. The luxury apartment community is located in the heart of the International Drive tourism district adjacent to the Lockheed Martin corridor and offers studio, one, two, and three-bedroom apartment homes. Construction is underway and occupancy is slated to start in Summer 2021.
“As the developer of Legacy Universal, we are pleased that this project will offer top tier access to the area’s largest employers and an abundance of world-class shopping, as well as Orlando’s famed Restaurant Row,” said Jon Wood, Legacy Partners’ Senior Managing Director. “We’re excited to showcase Legacy Partners’ nationwide brand of development and to build a premier apartment community that many will be proud to call home.”
Downtown office building 211 Commerce is slated to have its red brick exterior painted white.
Opened in 2000 and also until recently called the Baker Donelson Center, the 11-story Class A tower sits at the
address from which its name derives.
Via an LLC, private equity real estate manager Velocis and Lincoln Property Company, both based in Dallas, own the building, having paid $50.25 million for it in late February, according to Metro records. The companies said in a release at the time that they planned to give the structure roughly $13 million update.
Documents submitted to the Metro Development and Housing Agency note Nashville-based Gresham Smith will participate in the upgrade effort. The team will go before the MDHA Design Review Committee on Tuesday to seek approval of the exterior change. The tower sits within the MDHA Capitol Mall Redevelopment District and, as such, a committee OK is needed.
