Northwest Entrepreneur Competition to host final round > Spokane Journal of Business

Contest organizers invite public to pitch presentations Spokane’s University District and North Idaho College are collaborating to host the final round of the 16th annual Northwest Entrepreneur Competition online Wednesday, April 15.  Ryan Arnold, director of regional entrepreneurship strategy at North Idaho College, says 35 high school and undergraduate student teams from Washington and Idaho initially entered the competition. In the final round, nine teams across three categories will compete for cash prizes of up to $10,000.  Categories include the traditional business category, which is for locally-focused ideas such as products, services, or restaurants; the technology business category, sponsored by Avista Corp., for products and software that involve intellectual property; and the Perkins Coie open business category, in which student team members may choose additional team members who are graduate students, faculty, or community members.

Spokane U District will be home to multifamily development

A multifamily development with 298 units is coming to Spokane s University District.  Sagamore Spokane LLC, a local development company, announced on Thursday that the City of Spokane approved its application for building permits for the first phase of The District, according to a press release from the University District. The development is located on a 13.6-acre parcel of land comprised of ten lots and surrounded by the Spokane River to the north, East Martin Luther King Jr. Way to the south, the Ben Burr trail alongside the river to the north, and bisected by the Hamilton Street Bridge.
