Anari AI, a Novi Sad, Serbia-based AI chip factory in the cloud, raised $2m in seed funding.
The round was led by Earlybird, with participation from Acequia Capital, Serbian Entrepreneurs, and Eric Ries, author and founder of The Lean Startup. Roland Manger, co-founder and Partner at Earlybird, and Sasha Ostojic, ex-VP at NVIDIA, ex-SVP at Cruise Automation, Advisor at Samsung Electronics and Zoox, and Operating Partner at Playground Global, will be joining Anari’s Board of Directors.
The company intends to use the funds to continue developing the platform and bring it to market.

Earlybird Digital East Fund a fund associated with Germany’s Earlybird VC, but operating separately has launched a €200 million ($242 million) successor fund. The fund’s focus will remain the same as before: a seed and Series-A fund focusing on what’s known as “Emerging Europe”; in other words, countries stretching from the Baltics to Central and Eastern Europe, and Turkey. The firm has also promoted Mehmet Atici, who’s been with the firm for eight years, to partner. The new fund has made four investments so far: FintechOS, Payhawk, Picus and Binalyze.
