The Benefits of Composite EV Battery Enclosures
Jari Sopanen, Transportation Segment Owner | Exel Composites
The United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) says the for every 100 pounds of weight taken out of a vehicle, the fuel economy is increased by one to two per cent. This holds opportunity for the electric vehicle (EV) sector, which is fighting to boost energy efficiency and quash ‘range anxiety’. Jari Sopanen, Transportation Segment Owner at global composites producer Exel Composites, explains how composite EV battery enclosures could support the overall light weighting mission, and provide additional structural benefits compared with the traditional metal offerings.
Battery enclosures for EVs, also called frames, boxes or housings, have a primary purpose of holding and protecting the battery cells. They come in different shapes and sizes, and much like other vehicle parts, are an arena for several materials fighting for prominence.
Bottomless conveyors, also called side-gripping conveyors, provide a simple solution for accessing the underside of a product for a range of applications. These applications include inspection, printing, labeling and edge sealing.
As part of The smarter E Europe exhibition program, exhibitors specializing in hydrogen, fuel cell and Power-to-Gas solutions will be presenting their latest technologies and services at ees Europe, the largest international exhibition for batteries and energy storage systems in Europe, from July 21–23, 2021 in Munich.
Munich/Pforzheim, February 18, 2021: When it comes to green hydrogen, Germany is the most attractive market in Europe. Thanks to the political support, the strong industry demand for hydrogen and the growing share of renewable electricity generation, the country is at the forefront of the burgeoning hydrogen economy. With this in mind, the German Hydrogen and Fuel-Cell Association (German DWV) has joined forces with The smarter E Europe - the innovation hub for new energy solutions - to promote the use of this green fuel. Why? Because it provides a long-term storage solution for wind and solar power; it reduces the carbon footprint of industry; and it has the potent
Rapid industrialization along with increase in stringent environmental regulations and Initiatives taken by the government are the major factors that fueled the demand for energy.
