TWO Appeal Court judges have dismissed a property developer appeal of a judge’s approval of the sale of her family’s building at Victoria Square, Port of Spain.
The sale was aimed at recovering a large portion of a $40 million loan to trustees of the Guardian Defined Benefit Pension Fund Plan.
The dismissal of the appeal now means the property can be sold, but, there is a seven-day stay of the court’s decision.
Leonara Deslauriers challenged the sale of the building at 28-29Victoria Square, Port of Spain, by Guardian Asset Management (GAM), which lent her and her husband money to complete the Hevron Heights Towers at Mendez Drive, Champs Fleurs, in 2009.

The Health Ministry said beginning on Friday, no appointments will be necessary for covid19 vaccines at any of the drive-through vaccination sites.
It said first and second Sinopharm doses would be administered there.
In a release, the ministry said this also applied to mass vaccination facilities, except for the UTT Chaguanas Campus and the National Racquet Sport Centre, as second-dose AstraZeneca vaccines are being given there.

Dr Hinds: Covid19 cases slowly increasing

Epidemiologist Dr Avery Hinds is cautioning the public to continue to adhere to the public health regulations, as there has been an increase in cumulative numbers of cases over the past three weeks.
He said as there is increased movement, with a number of sectors reopening, people need to be more stringent in following the public health regulations to avoid a steep or rapid increase in numbers.
“We’ve seen slowly increasing cumulative numbers over the past three weeks from one week to the next, one per cent, five per cent. Between last week and the week before there was an eight per cent increase.
