Though officials promise that appointments will be quickly rescheduled, losing two days of shots is no small thing when the city has already missed its goal of vaccinating a million people in the month of January, and the vaccination drive is racing the clock against new emerging strains of the virus.
ROCHESTER, N.Y. – A Rochester, New York, police officer is suspended and two others were placed on administrative leave in the aftermath of an incident on Friday that resulted in a 9-year-old girl being pepper-sprayed.
A total of nine officers attended the scene, but the action was taken against these three at the order of the mayor, a release Monday from Rochester Police Department interim chief Cynthia Herriott-Sullivan confirmed.
The officers are suspended with full pay as per state civil service law.

Police released two bodycam videos Sunday that showed officers restraining a distraught 9-year-old girl who was handcuffed and pepper sprayed when she disobeyed commands.
Rochester City council approves $85k upgrade to Emergency Operations Center
The funds will be used updating equipment and improving communication capabilities at the facility.

ROCHESTER, Minn. - Rochester s Emergency Operations Center will be receiving an $85,000 upgrade.
The Rochester City Council approved the project Wednesday afternoon. The EOC, which was built in 2014, is designed to act as a command center for city officials in the event of an emergency.
The funds will go toward updating outdated equipment and enhancing communication capabilities at the facility.
City of Rochester Director of Emergency Management Ken Jones says the improvements may not be flashy, but they ll help officials manage disasters more seamlessly.

ROCHESTER, Minn. - A new report finds the City of Rochester is paying men and women equitably, though men are continuing to reach their highest possible salaries faster.
The city is required to submit a pay equity report to state officials every three years. If it fails to pass two tests with a score of at least 80%, Rochester would have to pay a daily fine until it came into compliance.
