John (“Jack, “Babe”) Kent Mallaro, 81, of Fort Dodge, died on January 26, 2021 in Phoenix, Arizona.
He was born November 10, 1939 in Buhl, Minnesota to Carl and Lois (Dawson) Mallaro, the youngest of three children. His family relocated to Fort Dodge when he was seven. Babe graduated from Fort Dodge High School in 1957. He attended Fort Dodge Junior College, where he played football and baseball, then earned a bachelor’s degree in mathematics from Mankato State College in Minnesota and a master’s degree from St. Louis University. After teaching high school math in Adel-DeSoto, he returned to Fort Dodge. He spent his career working at Iowa Central Community College, and in subsequent years worked as a graphic designer. ....

Norma Ruth Wagner (née Sked) passed away at her home in Gulf Breeze, Florida, on December 24, 2020, surrounded by family and able to enjoy her beloved sunset view over Pensacola Bay in her final days.
Norma was born on April 23, 1936, in Pennington, New Jersey. She graduated from Hopewell Valley High School and attended Trenton State College. She married her high school sweetheart, Raymond R. Wagner, on October 1, 1955. They built a home together in Pennington and raised their children there.
Norma lost her husband, Raymond, tragically in 1988. Several years later she met her second love, Fred G. Rasweiler. Norma always enjoyed a warm climate, and in 1994 she and Fred relocated to Gulf Breeze, Florida. For the next twenty-six years, her family and grandchildren enjoyed visits with “Nana by the beach.” ....

The call couldn’t have come at a better time. With COVID-19 scaling down weddings significantly and erasing social events from the calendar, hotelier and caterer Arieh Wagner of Golders Green, London, found himself without a single job since Purim. Then came the groundbreaking peace deal between the United Arab Emirates and Israel in August, followed by the treaty between Bahrain and Israel a month later.
As soon as the Bahrain deal was announced, Wagner received a call from a former Sheraton Hotel colleague of 20 years ago. “Do you remember me?” the fellow asked, explaining that he is now the manager of the Ritz-Carlton in the Arabic country of Bahrain. ....
