The Play That Goes Wrong Will Reopen Off-Broadway in October

Cowritten by Mischief Theatre company members Henry Lewis, Jonathan Sayer, and Henry Shields, The Play That Goes Wrong is a riotous comedy about the theater. The play introduces the Cornley University Drama Society, who are attempting to put on a 1920s murder mystery. But as the title suggests, everything that can go wrong…does, as the accident-prone thespians battle on against all odds to get to their final curtain call. The Play That Goes Wrong began performances at the Lyceum Theatre on March 9, 2017, ahead of an April 2 opening. As of its January 6, 2019, closing, the Broadway production played 27 previews and 745 performances. Directed by Matt DiCarlo, the show opened at New World Stages – Stage 4 on Wednesday, February 20, 2019. It features a Tony-winning set by Nigel Hook, costume design by Roberto Surace, lighting design by Jeremy Cunningham, and sound design by Beth Lake. The Play That Goes Wrong full casting for 2021 UK Tour May 6, 2021 Last updated: May 6, 2021 The Play That Goes Wrong, the Olivier Award-winning box office hit, today announces full casting for its 2021 UK Tour. The touring cast presents: Tom Babbage (Max), Tom Bulpett (Chris), Seán Carey (Jonathan), Leonard Cook (Robert), Edward Howells (Dennis), April Hughes (Sandra), Laura Kirman (Annie), Gabriel Paul (Trevor), with understudies: Katie Hitchcock, Damien James, Edi De Melo and Aisha Numah. Following three previously sold-out tours, the production will open on Tuesday 13 July 2021 at Marlowe Theatre, Canterbury where it first premiered in 2014, before visiting Cheltenham, Bath, Salford, Nottingham, Eastbourne, Dartford, York, Woking, Birmingham, Edinburgh, Brighton and Aylesbury. What the Ladybird Heard will be back in the West End this summer. Playing for a limited season from 15 July to 29 August at the Palace Theatre, the piece tells the story of a Ladybird who tries to stop two men stealing a prized cow. Adapted from Julia Donaldson and Lydia Monks bestselling book by Graham Hubbard (who also directs), the piece has set, puppet and costume design by Bek Palmer, design consultancy by Lydia Monks, lighting by Ric Mountjoy, composition and sound design by Jon Fiber and Andy Shaw with lyrics by Fiber and Howard Jacques, while producers are Kenny Wax Family Entertainment in association with Matthew Gregory.
