Rauoterangi Fault in Feilding in the hope to carbon date the
fault line and analyse the risk it poses.
The study
has been fully funded by the Earthquake Commission Kōmihana
Rūwhenua (EQC), with Manawatū District Council covering
some remedial costs. A trench was dug in an area of Rimu
Park that has been identified as having surface deformation
caused by the fault line.
“Fault trenching provides
another means of ground-truthing the work we do. We expect
to see some evidence of past fault movements on the trench
Firefighters attending the incident in Langmead Square, Crewkerne, called in the police. Officers who attended the incident at 5.30am on Wednesday, November 25, found two cars had been damaged. A third vehicle was reported later in the day to have suffered fire damage in the same incident. CCTV and house-to-house enquiries have been undertaken and footage shows a man to the right hand side of the image who police want to speak to in connection with their enquiries. PC Robert Langridge said: “We appreciate the footage does not show clearly the male we want to identify, but hope someone may recognise his clothing or remember seeing someone acting suspiciously in the area that night.
