New dean appointed for DeGroote School of Business Khaled Hassanein is currently the associate dean of graduate studies and research for the School of Business, as well as director of the McMaster Digital Transformation Research Centre.  January 14, 2021 SHARE Khaled Hassanein, a strong academic leader from within the DeGroote School of Business, has been named the new Dean of the Faculty of Business. Hassanein is currently associate dean of graduate studies and research for the School of Business, director of the McMaster Digital Transformation Research Centre, and McMaster’s SSHRC Leader. He will begin his term July 1, assuming the role from dean Leonard Waverman, who has led the faculty since 2013.

REUTERS/Luisa Gonzalez BOGOTA (Reuters) - Colombia’s central bank board said on Thursday it had named International Monetary Fund official Leonardo Villar as its new chief, to take up the post from Jan. 3. Villar, who served on the bank’s board between 1997 and 2009, is a former Colombian deputy finance minister. He replaces Juan Jose Echavarria, who did not seek re-election to a second four-year term. More recently Villar has served as a representative for Colombia, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Spain, Guatemala, Honduras, Mexico and Venezuela at the IMF.

NORHED II funding for global network on Peace and Conflict and Human Rights research News Photo: PRIO / Gregory Reichberg Norad has awarded funding through its NORHED II scheme for a six-year project to strengthen higher education institutions ability to produce high-quality research and teaching. The project was initiated by The Norwegian Center for Human Rights (NCHR) and the Peace Research Institute Oslo (PRIO) in partnership with five leading institutions in Africa, Latin America and the Middle East. The project shall develop a global network for enhancing academic capabilities in the fields of Peace and Conflict and Human Rights research and will run from 2021-2026 under the academic consortium of the Research School on Peace and Conflict. The project has been granted close to 20 million NOK and is entitled: Partnership for Peace: Better Higher Education for Resilient Societies . It was submitted under sub-programme 4 on Political and Economic Governance .
