His parents, Monroe and Nikkia Blakes, were on the call as well.
“I was extremely grateful and blessed to receive an offer, especially from a prestigious school like Duke,” the 6-foot-2, 195-pound guard from Blair Academy told NJ Advance Media. “My family was with me on the Zoom call with Coach K and his staff, and we were just all thankful and grateful that we received that opportunity. I was thankful for all the other offers, but I was especially thankful for this one.”

We started following Matthew Hurt closely a couple of years ago. At that time, the John Marshall Rocket was nearing the end of his prolific high school basketball career and was getting national attention. Hurt was considered a top 5 recruit nationally and all of the college powerhouses wanted him. Coaches from Arizona, North Carolina, Kansas, Kentucky, UCLA, Duke all expressed interest.
In April of 2019, Hurt made the decision to become a Duke Blue Devil. Hurt led the ACC in scoring this year which is quite the accomplishment and has now made the decision to declare for the NBA Draft. Hurt thanked God and his family when announcing the decision - Read his full statement below.
