Fatal crash investigation underway at Aldi parking lot in Cape Coral

Cape Coral police say they are investigating a deadly crash in an Aldi parking lot.
The investigation is at the grocery store at the Northpoint Shopping Center, off Pine Island Road and Chiquita Boulevard South.
Master Corporal Philip Mullen, public information officer with the Cape Coral Police Department, said a man was driving in the parking lot when he hit a woman coming out of the store.
The woman died on scene, Mullen said.
Investigators are focusing on what appears to be a silver vehicle with a red tarp over it and a white vehicle with front-end damage.

Fort Myers police are attempting to identify a man with a “unique walk” who burglarized an Auto Repair Shop last week.
The burglary happened on Friday just after 4:30 a.m. at the shop at 2445 Concorde Drive in Fort Myers.
The man, seen on surveillance footage, worked with another man on the burglary who was not caught on camera, police said.
“The male appears to be white, tall, and slender with a unique walk,” the police department said.

Lehigh Acres sex offender sentenced to 10 years for possessing images of children being abused

A Lehigh Acres man was sentenced to 10 years in federal prison for possessing images and videos of sexually abused children.
According to the Department of Justice, Steven Thomas Baryla, 39, was sentenced by U.S. District Judge Sheri Polster Chappell after having pleaded guilty on Jan. 14.
Baryla was also sentenced to a lifetime term of supervised release and ordered to register as a sex offender.
Court documents showed that Baryla knowingly possessed the images and videos after downloading them from the internet, according to the news release. He also used social media apps Kik and Snapchat to download the images.
