SNUB: Meryl Streep for Best Performance by an Actress in a Motion Picture - Musical or Comedy
Ryan Murphy’s “The Prom” received love in the form of a Best Picture - Musical or Comedy nomination and a shoutout for James Corden in the Best Performance by an Actor category. The thing is, Corden’s portrayal of queer Broadway star Barry Glickman was lambasted by critics who called it “homophobic,” “offensive” and “so bad.” Streep, however, was celebrated as “the queen of this musical,” yet her name was left off the docket. As always, the seasoned actor showcased a well of talent in both “The Prom” and Steven Soderbergh’s “Let Them All Talk,” which was also left off the list. For the first time in what feels like forever, Meryl Streep has some competition. (And it’s in the form of Kate Hudson.) ― ....

And thus, a meme was born. ....

Hollywood Elites Erupt as Korean-Language Film 'Minari' Forced to Compete in Foreign Language Category at Golden Globes

Hollywood and left-wing elites, including Rep. Ted Lieu (D-CA), are upset that the critically acclaimed
Minari will compete in the foreign language film category at the Golden Globe Awards, even though the movie is predominantly in Korean.
They are arguing that the ruling falsely implies that being American means speaking English, and are calling the decision “bullshit,” “xenophobic,” and “racist.”
The Hollywood Foreign Press Assn. (HFPA) announced this week that
Minari will compete in the foreign language category, thus making it ineligible for the evening’s top award for best dramatic movie. A similar fate befell Clint Eastwood’s

The comfort of made-for-TV holiday movies lies in their consistency.
You have a pretty good idea of what you’re going to get when you turn on the Hallmark Channel or Lifetime or flip through the holiday offerings on Netflix between Oct. 31 and Jan.1 of each year. There will be a meet-cute of some sort. There will be a romantic plotline. The whole thing will be infused with the gaudiest, most literal interpretations of “holiday magic” and “the Christmas Spirit.”  ....
