JOHANNESBURG - With the marking of matric exams expected to conclude this week, the North West Education Department says 70% of scripts in the province have been completed so far.
The province said marking is progressing well despite 11 teachers testing positive for COVID-19.
It’s understood nine marking staff and two departmental officials have contracted the virus since the marking process started earlier this month.

JOHANNESBURG - The Basic Education Department s Director-General Hubert Mweli is briefing the media on the progress on the marking of matric exam scripts.
Mweli visited 181 marking centres all over the country to monitor COVID-19 compliance.

JOHANNESBURG - The Basic Education Department credited the strict COVID-19 protocols it implemented for matric exam markers, saying the spread of the virus at centres across the country was limited.
Forty-five thousand markers were appointed and just over 300 who tested positive for the coronavirus were released.
Seven teachers, however, did succumb to the virus.
