S’African Simbine breaks Fasuba’s 15-year 100m African record The Punch •Okagbare runs Season’s Best in Olympics prep South African sprinter Akani Simbine broke Olusoji Fasuba’s 15-year African record in the men’s 100m when he ran a time of 9.84secs to win at the World Athletics Continental Tour in Hungary on Tuesday. Simbine placed first ahead of USA’s Michael Rodgers and Marvin Bracy in second and third positions respectively to take one hundredth off Fasuba’s previous record of 9.85secs set in 2006 in Doha, Qatar. Nigeria’s Blessing Okagbare also ran a Season’s Best 10.89secs to place fourth in a star-studded women’s 100m final.
