Kenneth Foy
Kenneth “Ken” Edward Foy, 74, passed away peacefully in his Edmonds home on Sunday, January 17, 2021. Ken was born on October 13, 1946 in Yakima, WA to Edward and Dolores Foy, the third of three sons. He graduated from Marquette High School in 1964 and from Gonzaga University in 1968. He joined the Army and proudly served his country in the Vietnam War where he was awarded the Bronze Star Medal. It was in Vietnam where he met his devoted wife and lifelong companion. They moved to Edmonds in 1974, where they made their home for 47 years, raised their two sons, and enjoyed spending time with their grandchildren, family, and friends.
County to consider 3 new members

The appointments will fill the slots of three members who resigned since Nov. 30.
Tom McRae, who represented the 14th District, resigned Nov. 30 after being elected Circuit Clerk. Ray Wesley resigned his 6th District seat to serve as deputy circuit clerk.
Chrissy Dutton-Wiley resigned Dec. 18 because she married and moved out of the district.
Board Chairman Kurt Prenzler has recommended Valarie Doucleff for Wesley’s seat; Larry Meisenheimer to replace McRae; and Dana Brockman to fill Dutton-Wiley’s post.
All three of the positions must be filled by Republicans.

Max E. Heinz Jr., 74, passed away at 4:42 pm Tuesday January 12, 2021 at Alton Memorial Hospital.
He was born on November 2, 1946 in Decatur, IL, the son of Max Heinz Sr and Eileen (Deardorff) Heinz.
Max married Janet Thomas on August 17, 1968 in Madison, IL. She survives.
Max served the Alton School district for 35 years as a teacher, assistant principal, and principal, retiring in 2002. As a teacher, he was awarded the “Environmental Teacher of the Year in Madison County”. He was a member of St. Ambrose Catholic Church where he served as an usher and was a Fourth Degree member of the Godfrey Knights of Columbus. He also served many years on the Village of Godfrey Park Board, where he helped to facilitate projects benefitting area youth and the general community.
Arguably the most consequential addition to the area in 2021 will be the GuideLink Center, at 300 Southgate Ave. in Iowa City. The $8.75 million facility is a milestone representing a collaboration from officials across Johnson County, including the city governments of Iowa City, Coralville, North Liberty, University Heights and more.
The space will be home to the overlapping services of Prelude Behavioral Services, the Penn Center, the Abbe Center for Community Mental Health, CommUnity Crisis Services and the Mobile Crisis Outreach Program, all of which hope to provide a third option for people in crisis, over a jail cell or an emergency room.
