(도쿄=연합뉴스) 특별취재단 = 23일 개막하는 2020 도쿄올림픽에는 성 소수자 선수가 최소한 142명이 출전, 역대 올림픽 사상 최다를 기록할 전망이다.
dpa통신은 17일 이번 도쿄올림픽에 자신이 성 소수자임을 드러낸 선수가 최소한 142명이 출전, 2016년 리우데자네이루 대회의 56명의 2배 이상 이라고 보도했다.
2016년 리우올림픽 때 56명은 그때까지 올림픽 사상 성 소수자 선수 최다 출전 기록이었다.
142명은 역대 하계올림픽에 출전한 성 소수자를 모두 합친 수보다 더 많은 인원이다.
성 소수자는 동성애자와 양성애자, 성전환자, 성 정체성이 정해지지 않은 사람 등을 두루 가리키는 단어다.
