Join us in celebrating the release of Jaialaiâs new EP, As Sweet As I Was. Since 2016, Jaialai has performed some of Miamiâs most memorable shows with its psychedelic blend of krautrock, shoegaze and garage rock. Featuring members from Venezuela, El Salvador and of Cuban heritage, this four-piece band comprises Jose âJoviâ Adames (guitar/vocals), Richard Boullon (drums/percussion), Mario Lemus (bass) and Oscar Sardiñas (guitar/vocals).
Thereâs a sense of urgency in Jaialaiâs music, a modern take on shoegaze and psychedelia but also the first-generation immigrant experience. Themes of freedom, intensity, anxiety and pressure are evident in their music. Their musical influences can be attributed to bands like The Rolling Stones, Radiohead, Deerhunter and Can.
