The Temple Police Department advised residents to avoid the 3700 block on Lynx Trail after finding a potentially dangerous device, the agency said in a tweet Monday afternoon.
At 11:30 a.m., officers were executing a search warrant when they found a possible explosive device in the area. The search warrant was being executed to look for suspected contraband in the home.
Two suspects in the home â a male and a female â were detained while the department called the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives and the McLennan County Sheriffâs Department.
Police spokeswoman Alejandra Arreguin said the McLennan County department was called due to them being the closest agency available with the resources to handle the explosives.

In February 2021, the human trafficking unit with McLennan County Sheriff s Office took a report regarding ongoing, criminal sexual acts being acted on by David Young of Madisonville in the Waco area.
During the investigation, it was determined that Young engaged in sexual acts with a 3-year-old child at a Waco location in late 2020.
Following the investigation, a warrant for Aggravated Sexual Assault of a Child was issued for his arrest.
Once Young discovered the issuance of the warrant, he fled to West Virginia.

WACO, TX â Early Wednesday morning, the McLennan County Sheriff s Office was trying to locate a stolen vehicle.
MCSO and the Department of Public Safety tracked the vehicle to an address in Downsville.
The suspect took off in the car and headed towards Waco, driving at a high rate of speed.
The suspect then got out of the car, jumped into another car and continued to flea law enforcement.
The McLennan County Sheriff s Office and DPS were able to disable the car at 18th Street and Cumberland Avenue.
