Welcome to Dorset lovely lockdown babies

THESE precious bundles of joy are brand new to Dorset. They include one baby delivered unexpectedly at home in Canford Magna. All the others came into the world at St Mary s Maternity Unit in Poole, Salisbury Hospital Maternity Unit just across the border in Wiltshire or at home across Dorset. Some were on time, some were early and some were late to the party. Some came into the world quickly and others took their time. But they are all very much loved by their immediate families and the extended families and friends they are yet to meet close up.

COVID-19 vaccine questions answered

File image NATIONAL NEWS - With the imminent arrival of the COVID-19 vaccine in South Africa, many doubts have emerged from various sectors of society. The healthcare workers (HCW) have been identified as the first group to receive the vaccine to ensure we safeguard our health force. In a recent poll amongst its staff, the Western Cape Department of Health received comments from 1 680 health workers on their views on the vaccine, with 54% indicated they would take up the vaccine, 26% indicated they would consider it while 19% indicated they would not. It is understandable that some HWCs have concerns about receiving the vaccine, after all, we live in an era where facts and misinformation can become viral instantly.

Devastated parents learn first responder was on their street when their newborn baby died

Parents of a newborn baby that stopped breathing and died at home have learned that a first responder was on the same street as them at the time, but wasn t called. Megan Thrupp, 25, and partner Kris Low, 30, who were left waiting 35 minutes for help at their home in Anstruther, Fife, believe that earlier intervention could have saved the life of their 19-day-old baby Eva. While waiting for the ambulance to arrive, Megan attempted to perform CPR with the help of an ambulance call handler.  After the incident, the couple were told that community lifesavers are not sent to cases involving children in case they find the death too traumatic.
