"Aimed at empowering small and marginal farmers, who constitute 86 per cent of India s farming community, the CSC E-Governance India Ltd (CSC SPV) has unveiled a unique Agri Services Portal that will act as a one-stop destination and marketplace for them," a CSC SPV statement said.
Across the rural hinterlands, the government, through various grassroots institutions, is encouraging farmers to cultivate a mix of crops that improve their own food security and nutrition requirements, besides other progressive social goals.
CSE to help set up 6000 FPOs
The Common Service Centre, a special purpose vehicle under the Ministry of Electronics and IT is planning to set up 6,000 Farmer Producer Organisations (FPOs). It has asked prospective candidates for the same.
CSE has promised to help submit the proposals to NABARD and SFAC, two govt agencies tasked with the assignment of help open FPOs. It bears recall that NCDC has also begun helping people to set up FPOs.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi has stressed that farmers should have the storage facilities near their villages. He called for the improvement of the system of taking the produce from the fields to processing units and emphasized that hand holding of these units be done by the FPOs.
CSC to set up 6,000 FPOs in next 6 months

Submits proposal to NABARD, SFAC Common Service Centre, a special purpose vehicle under the Ministry of Electronics and IT (MeitY), plans to set up 6,000 Farmer Producer Organisations (FPOs), one in every block, in the next six months.
It has so far established 72 FPOs.
“We have already received applications from around 5,000 CSC village level entrepreneurs (VLEs) who will help in this. The process of registration has started and CSC SPV has also submitted proposal to the National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD) and Small Farmers’ Agri-Business Consortium (SFAC). These FPOs will have about one-crore farmers registered for availing various services,” Dinesh Tyagi, Managing Director, CSC told
