Wauzeka-Steuben basketball has plenty of reasons to celebrate, as both boys and girls programs have racked up All-Conference honors. Gavin Ralph is the Ridge and Valley boys Player of the Year after 18.5 points and 9.5 rebounds a game. Caydon Lomas and Garett Kapinus made First Team All-Conference, with Nate Martin earning Honorable Mention. The girls team had a great season too, reaching sectional finals. Head Coach Ben McCullick is the Ridge and Valley Coach of the Year for the third year in a row, and junior Maddy Reichmann is conference Player of the Year after averaging nearly 20 points a game. Jayda Ralph also earned First Team All-Conference and Gabby Groom made Honorable Mention.

With short preseasons and socially distanced practices, it’s harder for teams to start off on winning streaks, but the Hornets have something heavily in their favor, and that’s experience: a total of eight seniors on the team’s official roster have this group in a rhythm early. “It’s nice to have a lot of experience to show the underclassmen how everything works and even show me as a junior how everything works,” junior point guard Maddy Reichmann said. “I think we’re all hungry for more success.”
