MEXICO CITY, Jan 8 (Reuters) - Unionized employees at Mexican airline Interjet went on strike on Friday, a union spokesman said, after weeks of flight cancellations as the company struggles to maintain operations during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Videos shared on social media showed groups of striking workers at Interjet counters in Mexico City’s Benito Juarez International Airport and outside Toluca International Airport, about 41 miles (66 km) away.
The majority of employees voted to strike at the company’s premises in Mexico City to recoup some wages and benefits through the union, the Seccion 15 workers union said in a statement.

Mexico, Dec 30 (Prensa Latina) Mexico already vaccinated 18,529 health workers against Covid-19 in less than a week, over 4,600 doses a day, the Secretariat of Health reported today. This body clarified that the vaccination calibration phase continues, aimed at identifying the points where time and coordination adjustments between those participating in the operation and in the immunization cells should be made.
This method also includes the analysis and assessment of people s arrival in the vaccination points and of the information system to coordinate the sending of appointments, the receiving of acceptance of calls and the verification of the personnel that comes to be vaccinated.
