May 11, 2021 WARREN – A city resident who pleaded guilty to a two-count amended indictment of having a fentanyl substance on him during a traffic stop will serve a year in prison. Police also will retain $1,580 that was taken by police from Martae Porterfield, 21, during his the June 24 arrest. Porterfield appeared before Trumbull County Common Pleas Judge Andrew Logan today. Two charges of possession of cocaine and aggravated possession of drugs were not included in the amended indictment. Porterfield previously was sentenced to prison during court hearings before Judges Peter Kontos and Ronald Rice earlier this year, and in 2020 on a variety of charges related to drug possession and having weapons while under disability. ....
[email protected] WARREN The former executive secretary to Mayor Doug Franklin and former Safety Service Director Enzo Cantalamessa has been hired to become the newly created legislative aide / projects and grants coordinator in the law department. Rachel Hathhorn, hired in 2014 to be Franklin’s executive secretary, will earn $52,000 in the new position. Her long-rumored move to the law department was announced last week. Cantalamessa, who is now the city law director, said in November he wanted to create the position to assist the city in digitizing its records and prepare the legislative requests made by council members. He emphasized that an assistant law director position, which was not filled since he was elected, was being eliminated to help pay Hatthorn’s salary. That position paid $64,259 annually. Kisha T. Jackson, 45, sobbed as she agreed to the plea agreement that reduced the charge from a fourth degree felony to a lesser fifth degree felony, meaning should could face a lighter sentence. Jackson could face more than a year in prison, if the judge sentences her to serve time. She also could receive probation. Jackson worked as the city’s event coordinator, before being fired for not turning in more than $2,800 in cash collected for the Christmas on the Square Committee in 2019 and 2020. ....
