Updated: 2:36 p.m. Minnesota’s health officials reported 67 new deaths and 2,346 new cases Wednesday as the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic continues. The state is now averaging about 44 deaths per day due to the coronavirus, down from an average of 57 two weeks ago. Test positivity rates have been reaching around 10 percent in the last few days, moving the seven-day average up to about 6.2 percent after reaching a low 4.2 percent last week. Health officials, however, have said that a drop in test demand may be a factor in the COVID-19 data going forward. The latest details on the coronavirus pandemic come as Gov. Tim Walz announced Wednesday that he’ll loosen restrictions on restaurants, bars and other entertainment venues.
