I read Hereford Times on July 15, with mixed feelings. A bigger picture , however picturesque and skilful, does not raise the spirits as much as well chosen words. Heartache referring to our young English team s performance disturbed me. It is disproportionate. I am heartbroken at the uncivilised behaviour of a mob. I believe the language about the Euro final used by media and politicians was a major influence. Fans were encouraged to mass in Wembley when parents are not allowed to watch their children s sports. I hated the hype about winning and was angry at the suggestion of a day off to celebrate. ....
