Snowbirds returning to 19 Wing Comox for spring training

Snowbirds returning to 19 Wing Comox for spring training SHARE ON: The Canadian Forces Snowbirds are coming back to Comox. They will be doing their annual spring training at 19 Wing Comox from May 4th to 26. During this period, the Department of National Defence (DND) says that you can expect to see jet aircraft in the vicinity and that there might be associated jet noise.  “These training flights are carefully planned and closely controlled to ensure public safety at all times and are subject to weather and operational requirements,” DND said in a release. “While the team is thrilled to return to a community that welcomes them so warmly, due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic they request that members of the public follow the public health measures recommended by the Public Health Agency of Canada and the British Columbia Ministry of Health and do not come to 19 Wing Comox to watch the team practise.”

Newly formed Civil Air Patrol unit at Sawyer a smart move | News, Sports, Jobs

Apr 21, 2021 The formation of a new Civil Air Patrol squadron locally is the right move at the right time, given the increasingly large number of tourists populating area woodlands and waterways. An orientation for the newly formed Marquette County Civil Air Patrol Squadron recently took place for youth and adults at the K.I. Sawyer Heritage Air Museum. At 25 people, the turnout, we’re pleased to report, was good. “We had the Houghton Squadron Commander Jeff Burl come to show a plane to the kids and let them hop in and such,” Marquette Flying Club President Greg Durand noted for a Mining Journal story on the matter. “The freedom of flying is like nothing else. You can be having the worst day and get up there on a nice evening and be nothing but smiles afterward.”
