CONCORDE’S Janae De Gannes topped the Girls’ Under-17 field with an impressive 5.66 metre long jump at the National Association for Athletics Administrations (NAAA) test event on Saturday.
At the Hasely Crawford Stadium in Mucurapo, De Gannes achieved her best distance on the first of six attempts. Club mate Gianna Paul launched to the second best distance of 5.17m while FAD’s Kevisjah Figaro leapt to 3.96m.

Kallicharan grateful for advice from senior Red Force players

FORMER West Indies Under-19 vice-captain Kirstan Kallicharan is relishing the opportunity to train with the TT Red Force and is especially grateful for the words of advice from his senior team-mates.
Kallicharan has been training and playing practice matches with the Red Force at the National Cricket Centre in Couva and at the Brian Lara Cricket Academy in Tarouba. Red Force are preparing for the Cricket West Indies Regional Super50 tournament which will be played in Antigua from February 4 to 27.
Several experienced cricketers have been training leading up to the tournament including Kieron Pollard, Dwayne Bravo, Rayad Emrit, Denesh Ramdin, Imran Khan and Ravi Rampaul.

THE party is still on, even though it may be scaled down for a much smaller audience. Entertainers continue to provide their fans with a Carnival experience through performances with small, live audiences.
This weekend will see events hosted by soca artiste Nesta “Sekon Sta” Boxill, a 21st Century Calypso Tent Experience that includes Desperadoes Steel Orchestra and top calypsonians, and Neil Iwer George will continue his virtual Stage series.

The year 2020 has been memorable. Although the COVID-19 pandemic seems to have overshadowed most of the year, it brought about positives which would not have happened otherwise.
