Disarmament is at the heart of the collective security system set out in the United Nations Charter, with its goal to “save succeeding generations from the scourge of war”. In commemoration of the United Nation’s 75th anniversaries and the atomic bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, the UN Office for Disarmament Affairs (UNODA) established the “75 Words for Disarmament Youth Challenge”, which was launched on August 12 International Youth Day and closed on September 26, the International Day for the Total Elimination of Nuclear Weapons.

University of Georgia senior Ose Aghomo was speaking with her mentor about access to opportunities and networking in college when her mentor said a phrase that resonated with her.
âCertain students learn about certain things just because they fit in a certain kind of demographic. ⦠Itâs really like a secret curriculum, said Aghomo s mentor.
This inspired the name of Aghomoâs research initiative, The Secret Curriculum Project. One of the main objectives of the research initiative is to provide more access to academic and career opportunities for historically underrepresented groups of UGA students.Â
Additionally, the project will feature a student-run database of academic, career and funding opportunities. The project also hopes to raise funding for two scholarships for underrepresented groups at UGA.
