The Palladam police registered a missing person case and launched a probe. COIMBATORE: The Palladam police have traced the three boys, who went missing from Arivozhi Nagar in their jurisdiction limits in Tirupur on Friday, to a commercial complex just 2km away from their residences on Sunday and handed them over to their parents. Police said the trio had run away from their houses as their parents used to scold them often. A police officer said S Rathish, 14, R Manikandan, 13, and R Simon Prakash, 13, all residents of Arivozhi Nagar at Palladam, had gone to a nearby ground for playing on Friday. “When they didn’t return home by late in the evening, their parents launched a search for them in the nearby areas and at their relatives’ houses. As they failed to locate them after the search, which lasted till Sunday morning, they lodged a complaint with us.” ....

Coimbatore: Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption (DVAC) sleuths have arrested Palladam zonal deputy tahsildar in Tirupur district for taking a bribe of Rs 10,000 from a person to change the name in patta. According to a DVAC source, a resident of Kethanur village had approached the deputy tahsildar, 44-year-old S Meganathan, for changing the name in patta on July 2. The officer, however, demanded Rs10,000 from him for the same. The resident, whose identity the source refused to divulge, approached the DVAC sleuths, who led by deputy superintendent of police C Dakshinamoorthy, laid a trap to nab the deputy tahsildar. “We gave the resident chemical coated currencies, asking him to hand the same over to the deputy tahsildar at the taluk office on Monday evening. We caught Meganathan red-handed taking the bribe,” the source said. ....
COIMBATORE: Narcotics control bureau-CID arrested two people for smuggling 48kg of ganja on Monday. NIB-CID deputy superintendent H Manoharan and team had intercepted a car on Palladam – Tirupur Road on Monday around 9am after receiving a tip-off. They found bundles of ganja worth Rs 4.8 lakh and arrested S Alex, 33, of Annamalai Garden on Mangalam Road in Eduvai in Tirupur district and K Selvam, 41, of Devaram in Theni district. “Alex and Selvam are facing ganja cases in Theni, Tirupur and other districts. They bought the contraband from Visakhapatnam and smuggled it to Theni a week ago. They were planning to distribute it among sellers in Tirupur city,” a police officer said. ....
