Director Tim Crooks remarked the crowds were quite possibly the largest ever for the event.
âIt was wonderful, really wonderful. Iâm really happy,â Crooks said. âI can tell you that our Friday crowd was our biggest ever.â
It is estimated that the two days of the event brought in at least 25,000 people; final estimates have yet to be tallied.
That came after Balloons Aloft had to scrap the Friday morning media flight that kicks off the event each year.
Saturday night saw numerous people turn out with many of the food vendors having wait times of 15-20 minutes because the crowd was so large.
A reader extends hisses to the people who âspent an obscene amount of money for fireworks set off on July 3. It lasted for over an hour. It was irresponsible and nothing more than noise pollution. With the amazing fireworks in Angola there is no need for what you did. Instead you could have purchased bags of pet food and donated it to the local animal shelter. Hopefully the medical professionals you kept awake . donât have to treat one of your loved ones in an E.R. tonight or tomorrow while sleep deprived.â
An extra high high five to
all of the organizers, pilots, vendors and volunteers who made this weekendâs Balloons Aloft event in Angola a huge success. Good weather allowed thousands to enjoy this weekend event.
HUNTINGTON, Ind. (WPTA21) - Soon, dozens of hot air balloons will take flight, in Angola’s annual festival, Balloons Aloft.
Roanoke pilot Chris Smart has nearly two-thousand flights under his belt, and gave ABC21 a bird’s eye view, of 21Country.
He pilots three balloons, each different in their uses.
Passengers looking for a romantic getaway in the sky, birthday and holiday gifts, or simply crossing off a bucket list item, will ride in Dream Catcher III.
Smart also flies competitively in the Dream Racer.
But this year at Balloons Aloft, he’s been hired to pilot Northeast Indiana’s RE/MAX balloon, for advertisement.
