AFTER years of standing as local landmarks, two huge gas storage facilities will be demolished in the coming year. This Summer Northern Gas Networks will begin work to pull down gas storage facilities, some dating back to the 1930s, at two sites in Bradford. The work is expected to last until Spring 2022. It is part of a national programme to demolish the huge domed structures, which are no longer used due to improvements in technology. There are two sites in Bradford that will be demolished as part of the programme - at Canal Road and Birskhall, between Leeds Road and Bowling Back Lane.
The existing bungalow building on Mount Street PLANS to demolish a bungalow and build a development of shops and offices in its place have been submitted to Bradford Council. An application to re-develop the site off The Grove, at its junction with Birksland Street, has been put forward by a Mr Nadeem. If approved, the property will be flattened to make way for a building made up of four ground floor shops, each with office space above. It would create a total of 614 square metres of new business space. The bungalow is part of the Clive Precious House site, which was used by the RSPCA until early 2018.
