Juneau, Alaska (KINY) - The popularity of teleworking or working from home spurred by the pandemic is on the rise across the nation including Alaska.
That s the lead article in the August edition of Alaska Economic Trends published by the State Department of Labor and Workforce Development.
Liz Brooks, a research analyst in the department s Research and Analysis Unit, is the author of the article. She was among the guests on Action Line. During the pandemic in 2020 we saw telework rates pick up. About a third of households in Alaska and the nation had someone working from home because of the pandemic. That represents a huge jump from the trend prior to the pandemic. Certainly telework has been on the rise since 1980, but everybody had to try something new and the rates really jumped.
