Trout Farming Economically Unviable And Potentially Disastrous To NZ

The New Zealand Federation of Freshwater Anglers (NZFFA),
a national trout and rivers advocacy body, states that trout
farming would be of no nett economic benefit to New Zealand
and could be disastrous to the country’s tourism-related
wild trout sports fishing ‘industry’ that is
conservatively estimated to be worth over $1.5 million
annually and which employs thousands of people in rural
areas.
NZFFA was responding to a report
(
BusinessDesk Feb 16,) that government was not
opposed to commercial trout farming but did not see it as an

The Government s decision to push ahead with a large minimum wage hike in April flouts bureaucrats advice to both delay and severely temper the increase.
The Ministry of Business Innovation and Employment (MBIE) provided the
Government with a review, dated December 2020, which advised delaying the 2021 minimum wage increase until October, and prescribed only a very modest rise of 25 cents, or 1.3 per cent. ....
